Fishing the Colordao basin

Made the camp racoon save for the night.. so far only a few short takes, not hooks.. meaning a quick beep... not sure if I am spot on, I planted one and the rest I casted to estimate.. I know I baited quite an area.. hearing the coyotes howl all over.. and already had a beaver 🦫  on the shore munching..

Nor gonna spoil it all, but fish are biting.. off to a good start, besides a beginning with some catfish the first carp did bite at 2.45 AM and had 25 lbs.

@frossmark , I don't think I've ever seen a crayfish that red. Looks like a mini lobster.

That thing was RED man.. almost wanted to boil it.. but for one alone not worth it..

This whole session went out of control again, some nice fish.. it will be brutally hot tomorrow, so I started packing already.. sure will stop fishing later on and get an early start packing to avoid the heat that will come. Fish bite quickly at this point, weights vary but one or two better where there.. nothing crazy but good fish and good fights as they are river fish, simply can't compare them to lake fish ever.. 

Back home.. getting home early had one advantage, I was able to start a good cleaning.. the fine dust there from the dry clay is insane, you can't do a step without making a dust cloud, that stuff got everywhere.. was time to wash the boat etc.. there will be a lot more to clean.. that's the joy of carp fishing, it not over just because you are back home..

Already planning another trip, but the heat is rising and we get close to the point where it is to hot out there to camp..
